  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans or line with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  6. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans and smooth the tops.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

2. Prepare the Banana Layer:

  1. Mash the ripe bananas in a small bowl and mix with the lemon juice to prevent browning.
  2. Set aside.

3. Prepare the Strawberry Layer:

  1. Chop the fresh strawberries and mix them with the sugar (if using) in a bowl. Let them sit for about 10-15 minutes to release their juices. Drain any excess liquid.

4. Prepare the Whipped Cream:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form. Be careful not to overbeat.

5. Prepare the Chocolate Ganache:

  1. Place the chopped chocolate in a heatproof bowl.
  2. In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer.
  3. Pour the hot cream over the chopped chocolate and let it sit for 1-2 minutes to soften.
  4. Stir the mixture until smooth and glossy. Let it cool slightly before using.

6. Assemble the Cake:

  1. Place the first layer of cake on a serving platter or cake stand.
  2. Spread the mashed banana mixture evenly over the top of the cake.
  3. Layer the chopped strawberries on top of the banana layer.
  4. Add a layer of whipped cream over the strawberries.
  5. Place the second cake layer on top and press gently to secure.
  6. Pour the chocolate ganache over the top, allowing it to drip down the sides. You can spread it with a spatula to cover the top evenly.
  7. Decorate the cake with additional whipped cream, strawberry slices, chocolate shavings, and crushed nuts if desired.

7. Serve and Enjoy:
