  1. Preheat the oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans, or line the bottoms with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. Make the cake batter:
    • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
    • Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth and combined.
    • Gradually add the boiling water (or hot coffee) and mix until the batter is well combined. The batter will be thin, but that’s normal—it helps keep the cake moist.
  3. Bake the cake:
    • Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans.
    • Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.
    • Let the cakes cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  4. Make the frosting:
    • In a large mixing bowl, sift the cocoa powder to remove any lumps.
    • Beat the softened butter until creamy using an electric mixer.
    • Gradually add the sifted cocoa powder, powdered sugar, heavy cream, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Mix until smooth and fluffy. If the frosting is too thick, add a little more cream to reach the desired consistency.
  5. Assemble the cake:
    • Once the cakes are completely cool, place one cake layer on a serving plate.
    • Spread a layer of frosting on top of the first cake layer.
    • Place the second cake layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake with the remaining frosting.
  6. Serve and enjoy:
    • Let the cake set for about 30 minutes to firm up the frosting before slicing.
    • Serve and enjoy your decadent, chocolatey masterpiece!

This chocolate cake is perfect for chocolate lovers—each bite is rich, moist, and loaded with creamy frosting. Enjoy! 🍫🍰
