  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, beat the eggs and sugar together until smooth and creamy.
  4. Add the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract, and mix until combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until smooth.
  6. Carefully stir in the boiling water until the batter is well combined (the batter will be thin).
  7. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.
  8. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.
  9. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

2. Prepare the Frosting:

  1. In a medium bowl, beat the softened butter with the cocoa powder and powdered sugar until smooth.
  2. Add the vanilla extract, milk, and a pinch of salt. Continue to beat until the frosting is light and fluffy, adding more milk if needed to reach the desired consistency.
  3. If you like a thicker frosting, you can add a little more powdered sugar.

3. Assemble the Cake:

  1. Once the cakes are completely cool, place one cake layer on a serving plate.
  2. Spread a generous layer of frosting on top of the first cake.
  3. Place the second cake layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake with the remaining frosting.

4. Serve and Enjoy:

  • Slice into this rich, moist chocolate cake, and enjoy every bite of this indulgent treat!

You can also add some chocolate shavings or sprinkles for extra decoration. Would you like any special variations, like a molten chocolate center or a layer of ganache?
