1. Make the Limoncello Syrup:
- In a small saucepan, combine the Limoncello, water, sugar, and lemon zest. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and let it cool completely.
2. Prepare the cream mixture:
- In a large bowl, beat the mascarpone cheese with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until smooth and well combined.
3. Soak the ladyfingers:
- In a shallow dish, pour the Limoncello. Briefly dip each ladyfinger into the Limoncello (don’t soak them too long or they will become too soggy) and arrange them in the bottom of a 9×9-inch dish or a similar-sized serving dish.
4. Layer the tiramisu:
- Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the soaked ladyfingers. Use a spatula to smooth it out evenly.
- Repeat the process with another layer of dipped ladyfingers, followed by the remaining mascarpone mixture.
- Smooth the top layer of cream with a spatula.
5. Chill the tiramisu:
- Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight, to allow the flavors to meld together and the tiramisu to set.
6. Serve:
- Just before serving, garnish with a light dusting of powdered sugar, lemon zest, and lemon slices.
- For a little extra flair, drizzle some Limoncello over the top just before serving.
Tips:
- Lemon flavor: If you love a more pronounced lemon flavor, you can add a bit of lemon juice to the cream mixture or increase the amount of lemon zest.
- Soaking the ladyfingers: Make sure the ladyfingers are dipped lightly into the Limoncello syrup, as you don’t want them to become soggy. They should just absorb enough of the liquid to soften up but still hold their shape.
- Lemon liqueur: If you want a stronger kick of Limoncello, feel free to adjust the amount in both the syrup and the soaking liquid.
This Limoncello Tiramisu is a perfect dessert for any lemon lover, adding a burst of citrusy brightness to the classic Italian treat. It’s creamy, sweet, and just the right amount of tangy! 🍋✨
