  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  • In a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients, and beat until smooth.
  • Gradually pour in the boiling water and mix until combined. The batter will be thin—this is normal!
  • Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans and bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Let the cakes cool in the pans for about 10 minutes, then transfer them to wire racks to cool completely.

2. Make the Cream Cheese Filling:

  • In a mixing bowl, beat together the cream cheese and butter until smooth and creamy.
  • Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, and continue beating until fluffy. Set aside.

3. Make the Chocolate Frosting:

  • In a medium saucepan, melt the butter and heavy cream together over medium heat.
  • Remove from heat, and whisk in the cocoa powder, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix until smooth and glossy.
  • Let the frosting cool slightly, so it thickens up a bit before spreading.

4. Assemble the Cake:

  • Once the cakes are completely cooled, place one cake layer on a serving platter.
  • Spread the cream cheese filling evenly over the top of the first layer.
  • Place the second layer of cake on top, and gently press it down.
  • Frost the entire cake with the chocolate frosting, covering it completely.

5. Serve:

  • Slice and enjoy this deliciously rich and creamy cake!

This cake is perfect for special occasions or whenever you need something indulgent. Are you planning to try it soon, or just in the mood for some cake inspiration?
