Limoncello Tiramisu is a delightful twist on the classic Italian dessert, combining the creamy, rich layers of tiramisu with the bright, citrusy notes of Limoncello. Here’s how to make this refreshing dessert:

Ingredients:

For the Limoncello Syrup:

  • 1/2 cup Limoncello (Italian lemon liqueur)
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp sugar (optional, depending on how sweet you want it)

For the Cream Filling:

  • 250g mascarpone cheese (about 1 cup)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp Limoncello (optional, for added flavor)

For the Tiramisu Layers:

  • 1 package (about 24) ladyfinger cookies
  • Zest of 1 lemon (for garnish)
  • Extra Limoncello (if desired, for soaking)

Instructions:

Step 1: Make the Limoncello Syrup

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the Limoncello, lemon juice, and sugar.
  2. Heat gently over low heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely. Set aside to cool.

Step 2: Make the Cream Filling

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream with the powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
  2. In another bowl, whisk the mascarpone cheese until smooth and creamy. Add in the Limoncello and vanilla extract, if using.
  3. Fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture gently until smooth and fully combined, creating a fluffy, light filling.

Step 3: Assemble the Limoncello Tiramisu

  1. Quickly dip the ladyfingers into the cooled Limoncello syrup. Be careful not to soak them too long—just a quick dip is enough to infuse them with flavor.
  2. Layer the dipped ladyfingers in the bottom of a serving dish, arranging them to cover the base completely.
  3. Spread a generous layer of the mascarpone cream over the ladyfingers, smoothing it out with a spatula.
  4. Repeat the process, layering dipped ladyfingers and cream until all the ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of mascarpone cream on top.

Step 4: Chill and Serve

  1. Refrigerate the tiramisu for at least 4 hours, or ideally overnight, to allow the flavors to meld and the dessert to firm up.
  2. Before serving, garnish with lemon zest for a fresh, citrusy burst of flavor.

This Limoncello Tiramisu is a perfect blend of creamy, tangy, and slightly boozy layers. It’s a great dessert for summer gatherings or any occasion where you want something light yet indulgent. Enjoy!
