A Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Ganache is the ultimate dessert for any chocolate lover! This rich, moist chocolate cake paired with a smooth, velvety chocolate ganache creates a perfect balance of flavors and textures. Here’s a simple recipe for you to enjoy:
Ingredients:
For the Chocolate Cake:
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 large eggs, room temperature
- 1 cup buttermilk (or whole milk)
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water (or hot coffee for an even richer flavor)
For the Chocolate Ganache:
- 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
- 2 cups semi-sweet or bittersweet chocolate chips
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter (optional, for extra shine and smoothness)
Instructions:
1. Make the Chocolate Cake:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans or line the bottom with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Add the eggs, buttermilk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and well combined.
- Gradually add the boiling water (or hot coffee) to the batter. It will be thin, but this is normal and will make the cake extra moist.
- Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared cake pans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove from the pans and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
2. Make the Chocolate Ganache:
- Place the chocolate chips in a heatproof bowl.
- In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it begins to simmer (not boil). Once hot, pour the cream over the chocolate chips.
- Let it sit for a minute or two, then stir until smooth and glossy. Add the butter, if using, and stir to combine. The ganache will thicken as it cools.
- Let the ganache cool for about 10-15 minutes before pouring it over the cake.
3. Assemble the Cake:
- Once the cakes have completely cooled, place one layer of the cake on a serving plate.
- If you want, you can spread a thin layer of ganache or frosting in between the layers for added richness.
- Pour the ganache over the top of the cake, allowing it to drip down the sides for a beautiful effect.
- Smooth the ganache over the top with a spatula, or let it set to create a thick, glossy layer.
4. Serve:
- Let the ganache set for about 30 minutes before slicing.
- Slice and enjoy the rich, decadent chocolate cake with its silky smooth ganache!
Tips:
- For a more intense chocolate flavor, you can substitute part of the water with hot coffee.
- If you want a thicker ganache, let it cool for a longer time before pouring it over the cake.
- You can decorate the top with chocolate shavings, fresh berries, or even a dusting of powdered sugar for an elegant touch.
This Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Ganache is a chocolate lover’s dream, offering a rich, decadent experience with every bite!
