For the cake layers:

  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the chocolate topping:

  • 1/2 cup (120g) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) whole milk
  • 1/4 cup (40g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

1. Prepare the base layer:

  • In a medium bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs and cocoa powder.
  • In a separate bowl, mix together the melted butter, milk, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract.
  • Pour the wet mixture over the dry ingredients and stir until well combined.
  • Press the mixture evenly into the base of a greased 9×9-inch square pan or similar-sized dish to form the first layer. Set aside while you make the topping.

2. Make the chocolate topping:

  • In a small saucepan, combine the butter, sugar, milk, and cocoa powder.
  • Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture comes to a boil.
  • Let it boil for about 2-3 minutes, then remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Pour the warm chocolate topping over the graham cracker base layer in the pan. Spread it evenly to cover the entire surface.

3. Chill and serve:

  • Place the cake in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to set and firm up.
  • Once chilled, cut into squares and enjoy the rich, decadent no-bake cake!
