Festive Oreo Ornament Treats are a fun and creative way to bring the holiday spirit to your dessert table! These sweet, colorful treats are made by decorating Oreo cookies to look like Christmas ornaments. They’re easy to make, perfect for gifting, and sure to be a hit at any holiday party!
Ingredients:
- 1 package Oreo cookies (regular or golden)
- 1 cup white chocolate chips (or candy melts)
- 1/4 cup milk chocolate chips (for drizzling)
- 1/4 cup candy melts in assorted colors (red, green, blue, etc.)
- Sprinkles, edible glitter, or sanding sugar (for decoration)
- Miniature candy canes or ribbon (for hooks)
- Decorative piping gel or icing (for detailing)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Oreo Cookies:
- Lay out a sheet of parchment paper on your work surface to place the cookies on while decorating.
- Carefully twist the Oreo cookies apart, keeping one side with the filling and the other without. (You can use the filled halves for decoration if you want more texture or stick with the plain halves.)
2. Melt the White Chocolate:
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white chocolate chips (or candy melts) in the microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth and fully melted.
- If you prefer to use candy melts, you can also melt them in a double boiler.
3. Dip the Oreos:
- Dip each Oreo half (the side without the filling) into the melted white chocolate, coating it completely.
- Gently tap off any excess chocolate and place the dipped Oreos on the parchment paper to set.
4. Decorate the Ornaments:
- Once the white chocolate has set (about 10-15 minutes), melt the colored candy melts in separate bowls (red, green, blue, etc.) and use a spoon or piping bag to drizzle them over the white chocolate-coated Oreos to create ornament designs.
- You can use different colors to make stripes, dots, or fun abstract designs. Be creative!
5. Add the Ornament Hook:
- Melt a small amount of the milk chocolate chips (or use edible icing) and pipe or spread it at the top of each cookie to make the ornament “hook.”
- If using candy canes as hooks, break them into smaller pieces and gently insert them into the top of each cookie while the chocolate is still soft.
6. Finishing Touches:
- Before the chocolate hardens, add sprinkles, edible glitter, or sanding sugar for extra sparkle and texture.
- Allow the cookies to set completely at room temperature or in the fridge (about 20-30 minutes) to harden the chocolate.
7. Serve and Enjoy:
- Once set, your Festive Oreo Ornament Treats are ready to serve! Arrange them on a festive plate, or use them as part of a cookie gift box.
Tips:
- If you prefer to use store-bought cookie icing or frosting, that can also work for decorating.
- Use mini candy canes or ribbon to make small hooks, giving each Oreo an authentic ornament feel.
- For an extra touch, you can drizzle some milk chocolate over the white chocolate-coated Oreo for a decorative effect.
Festive Oreo Ornament Treats are as much fun to make as they are to eat! These colorful, sweet treats are perfect for holiday gatherings, cookie exchanges, or as a unique gift for friends and family.
