Ingredients

For the Vanilla Ice Cream Base:

  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

For the Strawberry Swirl or Base:

  • 2 cups fresh or frozen strawberries, hulled
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar (adjust based on berry sweetness)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Strawberry Mixture

  1. Combine strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice in a medium saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the berries break down and the mixture thickens (about 5–7 minutes).
  2. Use a blender or immersion blender to purée the mixture until smooth (or leave some chunks for texture).
  3. Let the strawberry mixture cool completely.

Step 2: Make the Vanilla Ice Cream Base

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, sugar, and vanilla extract until the sugar dissolves.
  2. Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to an hour for best results.

Step 3: Churn the Ice Cream

  1. Pour the vanilla ice cream base into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Step 4: Add the Strawberry Swirl or Base

  • For a Swirl: Once the vanilla ice cream is churned but still soft, layer it into a container, alternating with dollops of the cooled strawberry mixture. Use a skewer or knife to swirl the strawberry through the ice cream.
  • For a Strawberry Base: Mix half of the cooled strawberry purée directly into the vanilla base before churning. Reserve the other half for a swirl.

Step 5: Freeze and Serve

  1. Transfer the churned ice cream to a lidded container and freeze for 3–4 hours (or until firm).
  2. Scoop into bowls or cones and enjoy!

No Ice Cream Maker? No Problem!

  1. Follow the same steps for making the vanilla base and strawberry mixture.
  2. Pour the vanilla base into a loaf pan, layer with strawberry mixture, and swirl.
  3. Cover with plastic wrap and freeze for 6–8 hours, stirring every 2 hours for a smoother texture.

This classic Vanilla and Strawberry Ice Cream is creamy, fruity, and bursting with flavor—perfect for sunny days or anytime indulgence! 🍓🍨
