1. Using it as a fixed key: a classic mistake
You might think that an adjustable wrench can replace a flat wrench … Wrong! Unlike fixed wrenches, it doesn’t offer a perfect fit, which can damage the nuts and the wrench itself. Overtightening can also deform parts.
The solution? Adjust the opening carefully to reduce play and avoid using it for tightening operations requiring high torque .
2. A loose jaw: watch out for damaged nuts
An improperly adjusted adjustable wrench can quickly round off nuts and make them impossible to unscrew .
Tip: Take the time to tighten the adjusting screw so that the jaw fits snugly against the nut faces. Just a millimeter of play can be enough to slip and damage your part.
