Ingredients:

  • 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 cup hazelnuts, toasted and finely chopped (or ground)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

For the sponge cake:

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
