Limoncello Tiramisu is a delightful twist on the classic Italian dessert, combining the creamy, rich layers of tiramisu with the bright, citrusy notes of Limoncello. Here’s how to make this refreshing dessert:
Ingredients:
For the Limoncello Syrup:
- 1/2 cup Limoncello (Italian lemon liqueur)
- 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
- 2 tbsp sugar (optional, depending on how sweet you want it)
For the Cream Filling:
- 250g mascarpone cheese (about 1 cup)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/3 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp Limoncello (optional, for added flavor)
For the Tiramisu Layers:
- 1 package (about 24) ladyfinger cookies
- Zest of 1 lemon (for garnish)
- Extra Limoncello (if desired, for soaking)
Instructions:
Step 1: Make the Limoncello Syrup
- In a small saucepan, combine the Limoncello, lemon juice, and sugar.
- Heat gently over low heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely. Set aside to cool.
Step 2: Make the Cream Filling
- In a large mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream with the powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
- In another bowl, whisk the mascarpone cheese until smooth and creamy. Add in the Limoncello and vanilla extract, if using.
- Fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture gently until smooth and fully combined, creating a fluffy, light filling.
Step 3: Assemble the Limoncello Tiramisu
- Quickly dip the ladyfingers into the cooled Limoncello syrup. Be careful not to soak them too long—just a quick dip is enough to infuse them with flavor.
- Layer the dipped ladyfingers in the bottom of a serving dish, arranging them to cover the base completely.
- Spread a generous layer of the mascarpone cream over the ladyfingers, smoothing it out with a spatula.
- Repeat the process, layering dipped ladyfingers and cream until all the ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of mascarpone cream on top.
Step 4: Chill and Serve
- Refrigerate the tiramisu for at least 4 hours, or ideally overnight, to allow the flavors to meld and the dessert to firm up.
- Before serving, garnish with lemon zest for a fresh, citrusy burst of flavor.
This Limoncello Tiramisu is a perfect blend of creamy, tangy, and slightly boozy layers. It’s a great dessert for summer gatherings or any occasion where you want something light yet indulgent. Enjoy!
