This Triple Chocolate Mousse Cake is the ultimate chocolate lover’s dream! With layers of dark, milk, and white chocolate mousse atop a rich brownie or sponge cake base, it’s indulgence in every bite.
Ingredients
For the Base:
- 1 brownie layer or chocolate sponge cake layer (store-bought or homemade)
For the Dark Chocolate Mousse:
- 4 oz (115g) dark chocolate, chopped
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp gelatin
- 2 tbsp water
- 1/2 cup heavy cream (whipped to soft peaks)
For the Milk Chocolate Mousse:
- 4 oz (115g) milk chocolate, chopped
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp gelatin
- 2 tbsp water
- 1/2 cup heavy cream (whipped to soft peaks)
For the White Chocolate Mousse:
- 4 oz (115g) white chocolate, chopped
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp gelatin
- 2 tbsp water
- 1/2 cup heavy cream (whipped to soft peaks)
Optional Garnishes:
- Chocolate shavings
- Cocoa powder
- Fresh berries
Instructions
1. Prepare the Base:
- Place the brownie or sponge cake layer in the bottom of a springform pan. Set aside.
2. Make the Dark Chocolate Mousse:
- Sprinkle gelatin over water in a small bowl and let it bloom for 5 minutes.
- Heat 1/2 cup heavy cream until steaming, then pour over the dark chocolate. Let sit for 2 minutes, then stir until smooth.
- Microwave the gelatin for 10 seconds until melted, then stir it into the chocolate mixture.
- Gently fold the whipped cream into the chocolate mixture. Pour over the base and spread evenly. Chill for 20-30 minutes.
3. Make the Milk Chocolate Mousse:
- Repeat the same process as the dark chocolate mousse using milk chocolate. Pour over the dark chocolate layer and chill for another 20-30 minutes.
4. Make the White Chocolate Mousse:
- Repeat the process once more with white chocolate. Pour over the milk chocolate layer and smooth the top.
5. Chill and Set:
- Refrigerate the cake for at least 4-6 hours, or overnight, until fully set.
6. Garnish and Serve:
- Run a knife around the edge of the cake before removing the springform ring.
- Garnish with chocolate shavings, cocoa powder, or fresh berries. Slice and serve chilled!
