Ingredients
- 2 to 3 ripe bananas, mashed (about 1 ½ cups)
- 8 oz (225g) cream cheese, softened
- 2 cups (240g) all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
- ¾ cup (150g) granulated sugar
- ¼ cup (50g) brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- ½ cup (120g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ¼ cup (60ml) sour cream (optional, for extra moisture)
- ½ cup (60g) chopped walnuts or chocolate chips (optional)
Instructions
1. Prepare the oven and pan
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
2. Make the batter
- In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon (if using).
- In a large mixing bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and creamy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the mashed bananas and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until incorporated. If you’re using sour cream, fold it in at this point for extra moistness.
- (Optional) Fold in the chopped walnuts or chocolate chips.
3. Bake the banana bread
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Bake for 55-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean or with just a few crumbs.
- If the bread starts to brown too much on top during baking, cover it loosely with foil to prevent burning.
4. Cool and serve
- Once baked, remove the banana bread from the oven and allow it to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes.
- Transfer the bread to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
- Serve and enjoy your rich, moist Cream Cheese Banana Bread!
Tips
- Make sure the bananas are very ripe to ensure maximum sweetness and flavor.
- If you don’t have sour cream, Greek yogurt is a great substitute for extra moisture.
- For a fun twist, add a handful of mini chocolate chips or shredded coconut to the batter.
Enjoy your Cream Cheese Banana Bread perfectly moist and flavorful, with a creamy richness that takes banana bread to the next level!
