Homemade peach ice cream is a delightful treat that’s creamy, fruity, and perfect for warm days! Here’s a simple recipe to make it at home, with or without an ice cream maker.
Ingredients
- 4 ripe peaches (peeled, pitted, and diced)
- 1 cup granulated sugar (divided)
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- A pinch of salt
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Peaches
- Place the diced peaches in a blender or food processor with 1/2 cup of sugar.
- Blend until smooth, or leave some small chunks if you like a bit of texture in your ice cream.
- Optional: Strain the puree to remove any fibers for a smoother consistency.
Step 2: Make the Ice Cream Base
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, remaining sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until the sugar dissolves.
- Stir in the peach puree until fully combined.
Step 3: Churn the Ice Cream
- Using an Ice Cream Maker:
- Pour the mixture into the ice cream maker.
- Churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions until thick and creamy (usually 20-30 minutes).
- Without an Ice Cream Maker:
- Pour the mixture into a shallow, freezer-safe container.
- Freeze for about 2 hours, then stir the mixture with a fork or whisk to break up ice crystals.
- Repeat this process every 30 minutes for 2-3 hours until smooth and creamy.
Step 4: Freeze and Serve
- Transfer the churned ice cream to an airtight container.
- Freeze for an additional 2-4 hours to firm up.
- Scoop and serve!
Optional Additions:
- Mix in chopped fresh peaches or crushed graham crackers for extra texture.
- Add a swirl of caramel or a splash of bourbon for a gourmet touch.
Enjoy your creamy, homemade peach ice cream!
