1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Prepare the Chicken: Pat the chicken pieces dry with paper towels. Season them with salt and pepper on both sides.
3. Sauté Garlic: In a small saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
4. Mix the Sauce: Add the BBQ sauce, smoked paprika, onion powder, and chili powder to the saucepan. Stir to combine, and let it cook for another 2-3 minutes until everything is well melded.
5. Coat the Chicken: Place the chicken pieces in a baking dish. Pour half of the BBQ sauce mixture over the chicken, making sure each piece is well coated.
6. Roast the Chicken: Bake in the oven for about 25 minutes. Then, remove the chicken from the oven and brush with the remaining BBQ sauce.
7. Bake Again: Return the chicken to the oven and continue baking for another 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
8. Broil for Extra Crispiness: If you want a slightly charred look, turn on the broiler for the last 3-5 minutes, keeping a close watch to avoid burning.
9. Serve: Remove from oven and let rest for a few minutes before serving.
