Why do geckos come to your home and how to keep them away?

Geckos, though secretive, have a keen sense of smell. Garlic acts as a natural repellent thanks to its powerful odor. Salt, on the other hand, can contribute to drying out the surrounding air, making the area less conducive to insects… and therefore less attractive to geckos.

This duo creates an olfactory and sensory barrier: non-toxic for you, but deterrent for them.

A few additional precautions and tips:
Renew the mixture every two weeks or so to maintain its effectiveness.
Regularly clean areas where you’ve seen geckos. Fewer insects = fewer geckos.
Seal small cracks around windows or doors: these are their favorite passageways.
Ventilate your home well to limit humidity, which also attracts mosquitoes… and therefore geckos.
