1. Prepare the Eggshells
Carefully crack eggs near the top to preserve most of the shell.
Rinse and let them dry.
Poke a small drainage hole at the bottom using a pin or needle.
2. Add Soil & Plant Seeds
Fill each shell with potting mix.
Plant 1–2 seeds per shell according to seed packet depth instructions.
Mist with water to moisten the soil.
3. Start Seedlings Indoors
Place the shells in an egg carton or tray near a sunny window.
Water lightly every few days.
4. Transplant with the Shell
Once the seedlings are sturdy and roots visible, crush the bottom of the shell slightly.
Plant the whole thing directly into a larger pot or your garden.
5. Add Crushed Eggshell Fertilizer
Dry additional shells and crush them finely with a spoon or mortar.
Sprinkle around the base of plants.
It enriches the soil with calcium and deters slugs.
Bonus Tips
Combine eggshells with coffee grounds for added nitrogen.
Use this method for herbs, tomatoes, peppers, and lettuces.
