Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a 9×13-inch baking pan by greasing and lightly flouring it.
Bake the red velvet cake mix according to package instructions. Once baked, let the cake cool for 10-15 minutes.
Using the handle of a wooden spoon, poke holes all over the surface of the cake, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
In a bowl, whisk together the vanilla pudding mix and milk until smooth and slightly thickened. Pour the pudding mixture evenly over the cake, ensuring it fills the holes. Spread gently to smooth. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
While the cake chills, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form. Spread the whipped cream over the chilled cake.
Decorate with red and green sprinkles or other holiday toppings.
