Something in me said to help, therefore I filled a glass with water and slowly set it down. To my shock, the snake drank from the glass.

I thought it was a rare, peaceful moment-until Animal Control arrived. They took one look and said, “You got lucky.”

Caution and Safety First
Mark’s approach to the situation remained calm yet serious. He suggested that they step back and give the snake some space. “Jake, let’s back up a bit,” Mark said, his voice steady and composed.

Jake hesitated, still unsure of the snake’s intentions. “It’s not attacking,” Jake pointed out.

Mark remained firm. “It doesn’t matter. Snakes can be unpredictable. Best to give it space and stay safe.”

“Did you notice anything unusual before it came?”, Mark asked.

Jake shook his head. “Nothing. Just me and the lake.”
