Instructions:
- Prep the Potatoes:
- Peel the potatoes and cut them into thin matchsticks (about 1/8 inch thick or thinner).
- Soak the sticks in a bowl of cold water for 20–30 minutes to remove excess starch (this makes them crispier).
- Drain and pat completely dry with a towel or paper towels.
- Heat the Oil:
- In a deep pan or skillet, heat the oil to 350°F (175°C).
- Test a piece of potato — it should sizzle immediately when dropped in.
- Fry in Batches:
- Fry the potato sticks in small batches to avoid crowding.
- Cook for 3–5 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- Use a slotted spoon to transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate.
- Season:
- While hot, sprinkle with salt and any desired seasonings (paprika, chili powder, or even grated Parmesan).
- Serve:
- Serve hot and enjoy them as a snack, side dish, or party appetizer!
