Prep mushrooms: If mushrooms are large, halve or quarter them for bite-sized pieces. Pat dry with a paper towel — moisture is the enemy of crisp.
Make the coating station:
Bowl 1: flour seasoned with salt & pepper
Bowl 2: beaten eggs
Bowl 3: breadcrumbs mixed with garlic, herbs, and Parmesan
Coat mushrooms:
Toss each mushroom in flour → dip in egg → coat in breadcrumb mixture. Press lightly to make sure the crumbs stick.
Choose your method:
🔥 To Fry (extra crispy):
Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
Fry mushrooms in batches until golden brown (2–3 min per side).
Drain on paper towels.
🌱 To Bake (lighter version):
Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
Arrange mushrooms on a baking tray lined with parchment.
Lightly spray with oil.
Bake 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crispy.
Optional: Garnish with chopped parsley, an extra dusting of Parmesan, or even a squeeze of lemon for brightness.
Dipping Sauce Ideas:
Garlic aioli
Spicy sriracha mayo
Ranch or blue cheese dip
Honey mustard or sweet chili sauce
