2. Heat the oil:
Heat 2-3 inches of oil in a deep pot or large pan over medium heat. The temperature should reach around 350°F (175°C) for frying. Use a thermometer if you have one.
3. Shape the doughnuts:
On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/2-inch thick. Use a doughnut cutter or two round cutters (one larger for the outer circle and a smaller one for the center hole) to cut out the doughnuts.
If you don’t have a doughnut cutter, you can roll small balls of dough and flatten them into rounds.
4. Fry the doughnuts:
Carefully place the doughnuts into the hot oil, a few at a time, without overcrowding the pan.
Fry for 1-2 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil and transfer them to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
5. Optional: Glaze or sugar the doughnuts:
While the doughnuts are still warm, you can dip them in a glaze (powdered sugar mixed with milk or simply dust them with cinnamon sugar or just powdered sugar.
Enjoy!
