1Preheat the oven:
Preheat to 175°C (350°F).
Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
2Cream butter and sugar:
In a bowl, beat the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
3Add wet ingredients:
Mix in the milk and vanilla extract until well combined.
4Incorporate dry ingredients:
Sift together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt.
Gradually add to the wet mixture and mix until a soft, non-sticky dough forms.
5Shape the cookies:
Roll the dough into small balls (about the size of a walnut).
Place them on the baking tray, leaving some space between each.
Gently flatten them with your fingers or the back of a spoon.
6Bake:
Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the bottoms are slightly golden. (Do not overbake—cookies should remain pale for that melt-in-your-mouth texture!)
7Cool and dust:
Let the cookies cool on the tray for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
Dust with powdered sugar for an extra snowy effect.
Tips:
Cornstarch is the secret to making them extra soft and delicate.
For a twist, add a pinch of cinnamon or lemon zest to the dough.
Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
