Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Prepare the Puff Pastry:
Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface.
Spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard over the pastry (if using).
Add Ham and Cheese:
Layer the sliced ham evenly over one half of the puff pastry.
Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top of the ham.
Fold and Seal:
Fold the other half of the pastry over the ham and cheese to form a rectangle.
Press the edges firmly to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative touch.
Cut and Prepare:
Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice the pastry into squares or rectangles.
Place the pieces on the prepared baking sheet.
Apply Egg Wash:
Brush the tops of the pastry squares with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
Sprinkle sesame seeds on top for added texture and flavor (optional).
Bake:
Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
Serve:
Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm!
