Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
Mix wet ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the mashed bananas with the melted butter. Stir in the sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until well mixed.
Add dry ingredients: Sprinkle the baking soda and salt over the banana mixture and stir in. Add the flour and mix just until the batter comes together. Be careful not to overmix.
Fold in chocolate chips: Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cool and serve: Let the banana bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
