Step-by-Step Cleaning Process:
Step 1: Prepare Your Oven
Before starting, make sure your oven is completely cool. Remove any racks, trays, or thermometers, and set them aside for separate cleaning.
Step 2: Make the Cleaning Paste
In a small bowl, mix 1/2 cup of baking soda with enough water to form a thick, spreadable paste. If you want a pleasant scent, add a few drops of lemon juice to the mixture.
Step 3: Apply the Paste
Using a sponge or your hands (wear gloves if you prefer), spread the baking soda paste over the interior surfaces of the oven. Focus on areas with grease, grime, or burnt-on residue. Avoid applying the paste directly to the heating elements.
Step 4: Let It Sit
Leave the baking soda paste on the oven surfaces for at least 12 hours or overnight. This gives the baking soda time to break down tough grease and loosen baked-on grime.
Step 5: Wipe Away the Paste
After the waiting period, use a damp cloth or sponge to wipe away as much of the dried paste as possible. For stubborn spots, use a plastic scraper gently to avoid scratching the surface.
