Elderly Physicians: We Used Castor Oil and Baking Soda to Help

Ingredients Needed for the Recipe

To prepare this powerful remedy, you will need the following ingredients:

  • Pure castor oil (cold-pressed is preferred for maximum effectiveness)
  • Baking soda (food-grade, aluminum-free for safety)
  • Filtered water (optional, for mixing)
  • Cotton cloth or gauze (for application)
  • Plastic wrap (to secure the application)
  • Hot water bottle or heating pad (for enhanced absorption)
  • Small mixing bowl

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Baking Soda Solution

  1. Measure out 1 teaspoon of baking soda and place it in a small mixing bowl.
  2. Add a few drops of filtered water to the baking soda, mixing until it forms a thick paste. Ensure the paste is smooth and lump-free.
  3. Set this mixture aside while preparing the castor oil application.

Step 2: Warm the Castor Oil

  1. Pour 2-3 tablespoons of castor oil into a heat-safe container.
  2. Gently warm the oil by placing the container in a bowl of hot water for about 5 minutes. Avoid overheating the oil as this may reduce its therapeutic properties.
  3. Test the temperature of the oil to ensure it is warm but not too hot for skin application.

Step 3: Prepare the Application Cloth

  1. Take a clean cotton cloth or gauze large enough to cover the treatment area.
  2. Soak the cloth in the warm castor oil until it is fully saturated but not dripping.

Step 4: Combine and Apply

  1. Spread a thin layer of the baking soda paste onto the area you wish to treat. This layer acts as a primer, enhancing the absorption of the castor oil.
  2. Place the oil-soaked cloth over the area, ensuring it completely covers the baking soda layer.
  3. Secure the cloth with plastic wrap to prevent leakage.
  4. For added benefit, place a hot water bottle or heating pad over the cloth. Heat helps the mixture penetrate deeply into the skin and tissues.

Step 5: Rest and Relax

  1. Allow the application to remain in place for 30-60 minutes. Use this time to relax in a comfortable position.
  2. Once the time is up, remove the cloth and plastic wrap.
  3. Wipe the area gently with a clean, damp cloth to remove any residue.
